Identity/Visibility: Telling Stories, Telling Truth

Date:
Thursday, November 12, 2009 - 6:30pm
Location:
OCA National Center, 1322 18th Street NW, Washington, DC 20036

Objectives:
- To identify & challenge the
common narratives about people of color & LGBT issues
- To tell "new stories" about our lives at the intersection of color
and queer

Activity:
- Facilitated discussion &
exercises

Guiding thoughts:
- Identities come from the stories that we tell each other about each other
- Movements & communities are also formed and motivated by these stories.
- But no one story is the whole truth.  Therefore we must have many
stories.  And we must honor the diversity of those stories.
